Swabhiman
The SWABHIMAAN Demonstration Programme is an integrated multisectoral strategy to improve girls’ and women’s nutrition before conception, during pregnancy and after birth in selected blocks of Bihar, Chhattisgarh and Odisha. UNICEF India is assisting the three States’ Livelihood Missions to implement the integrated strategy. JEEViKA, BIHAN (Aajeevika) and OLM are anchoring and implementing the Swabhimaan programme in coordination with the Departments of Health, Civil Supplies, Social Welfare and Public Health Engineering, with technical and financial support from the UNICEF in the three states. The programme entails two strategies (i) formal system strengthening to improve coverage of food security, health, nutrition, water and sanitation services and (ii) partner with village organisations to design, implement and monitor a multi-sector programme for adolescent girl and women.
IIPS is looking after impact evaluation of SWABHIMAAN programme. During baseline, IIPS played role as the technical partner but in midline and endline, IIPS is the nodal agency for the impact evaluation.
